A stacked cast for a retelling of a monumental part of history. However, the film is incredibly dense—not necessarily in a bad way, but not in a fantastic way either. There was so much to include that it felt a tad cartoonish at times, hindering the impact of the scenes that made the final cut.ContinueContinue reading “The Post (2017) Film Review”

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Film Review
Overall, it’s a great movie, but there are a lot of sloppy moments. I guess it’s the age of the film, and as someone who grew up watching newer movies with refined techniques, this felt comical. But again, the sum of its parts is great—great special effects, on par with *The Thing* (1982). It’s definitelyContinueContinue reading “Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Film Review”
The Public Eye (1992) Film Review
A great neo-noir film utilizing Joe Pesci as a specimen, and not as an actor, because you can leave it Pesci to give justice to any character you give him. He gracefully portrayed the odd man, giving you no choice but emphatize with his character. Solid script that is quite easy to follow.Barbara Hershey played theContinueContinue reading “The Public Eye (1992) Film Review”
The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) Film Review
Matthew McConaughey is one of the naturally coolest actors there is, and this role was made for him to portray. I couldn’t think of another actor that could make this performance as smooth as his.Great plot, always have been a fan of Michael Connely after seing Bosch. Stacked cast. Although the cinematography was a bitContinueContinue reading “The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) Film Review”
My Cousin Vinny (1992) Film Review
What a treat of a movie this is. I loved every single scene. Joe Pesci is an effective comedic actor because he knows his capacity and knows how to balance it. He knows his limitations and stays within it. Imagine an actor revered for both Goodfellas and this film. Two different films, but with aContinueContinue reading “My Cousin Vinny (1992) Film Review”
Wag the Dog (1997) Film Review
Funny how this isn’t complete fiction. A satire well made that it makes you scared but calms you down at the same time. De Niro with his fedora, and Hoffman with his scarf controlled the story. When they smiled, we smile, and rarely did they ever not smile. When they’re inconvenienced, we rooted for them. TheyContinueContinue reading “Wag the Dog (1997) Film Review”
Joy (2015) Film Review
A remarkable true story, but the execution made it look so corny and cringy. Every supposed ‘cool and methodical’ scene Jennifer Lawrence has makes me think she was hyped up by the director that she was delivering the greatest performance of all-time. She did her best, but the editing, cinematography, and soundtrack just failed to back herContinueContinue reading “Joy (2015) Film Review”
Everybody’s Fine (2009) Film Review
Heartwarming and adorable. Robert de Niro is so versatile that he can go from a cold, heartless gangster, to an adorable grandpa you just want to hug and spend the afternoon with. Sam, Drew and Kate were also fantastic in this.Plot is nothing spectacular, but the film was great nonetheless. 4 out of 5
Analyze This (1999) Film Review
This wouldn’t be as funny as it was if you haven’t seen the essential mafia films. Having seen almost all of them, and most De Niro films, this was hilarious.Billy Crystal’s comedic timing is great in this, but De Niro really can’t help outshining his co-stars, because he was hilarious in this. He knows hisContinueContinue reading “Analyze This (1999) Film Review”
La La Land (2016) Film Review
I was so glad I saw this one when it came out. Instantly became one of my all-time favorites, but couldn’t watch it again ever since. A perfect film and a beautiful story of passion, love, and music. Perfect casting. Emma and Ryan’s chemistry is the best I’ve ever seen. From Crazy, Stupid, Love, to GangsterContinueContinue reading “La La Land (2016) Film Review”
